Annie Advisor's AI pilot testing in Vantaa was a success
'The experiment in Vantaa was an important opportunity for us to test and develop our AI-based technology in a real learning environment,' says Joonas Merikko from Annie Advisor. The goal of the testing was to explore the possibilities and risks of the tool and to collect feedback from students for its development. The pilot testing was carried out in collaboration with Annie Advisor Oy, Business Vantaa and Vantaa Vocational College Varia during autumn 2024.
Students from the information and communication technology program at Varia tested the Annie Advisor’s AI-based Annie tool, which helps identify students' guidance and support needs. Through the testing, students gained experience in evaluating a digital service from their professional perspective and learned to provide feedback and assessments on the tool's usability and development ideas for the company. Students found the interaction with the AI-assisted bot mostly natural: the bot was polite and friendly and spoke like a real person.
The Annie tool has been used at Varia before, but the piloted AI technology is a step forward compared to the previous rule-based solution. Student feedback showed that the AI-based version brought clear advantages: it made the interaction more natural and supported students more individually according to their needs.
