The Vantaa Career Runway Program supports job seekers by enhancing career development through increased visibility, connection, and community. It addresses common challenges faced by individuals seeking employment, and it is directed toward job seekers living in Vantaa.

The program: 

  • Is designed for job seekers in Vantaa.
  • Focuses on building professional networks and community ties.
  • Helps participants gain greater visibility in the job market.
  • Aims to improve career opportunities through targeted support.
  • Encourages connection and collaboration among participants

 The program also combines individual career assessment and goal-setting with practical skills development workshops covering different topics. By combining practical learning, peer support, and active participant engagement, the program aims to help participants build confidence, strengthen their employability, and take meaningful steps toward their desired career paths.

Challenges Many Professionals Face

Beyond employers’ hesitancy to hire, many talented professionals encounter additional barriers that prevent them from building the careers they aspire to, including:

  • Limited professional networks
  • Unfamiliarity with Finnish work culture
  • Difficulty communicating their skills and experience
     

Our response

The program focuses on helping participants become more visible and connected through skill-based workshops that enable and encourage to build networks and relationships.

Eligibility

You are eligible to apply to this program, if you:

  • Live in the city of Vantaa
  • Hold at least a bachelor’s degree from a university or university of applied sciences (UAS), or if you are on the final year of your studies 
  • Have sufficient English language skills
  • Are motivated and able to commit to the full duration of the program

Methodology

How does the program work?

The program combines practical learning, peer support, and active participation to create a collaborative and engaging learning experience.

Program Structure

The pilot program will be launched in fall 2026. 

  • Duration: 8 weeks
  • Format: In-person, interactive workshops
  • Sessions: 1 per week (3.5–4 hours each)
  •  Group size: 25 participants
     

Program Timeline

This is the tentative schedule for the pilot program.

  • Applications open- June 15th 2026
  • Applications close- August 9th 2026
  • Interviews will be held- August 18-19th 2026
  • Participant Selection will be announced- August 20th, 2026
  • Duration of the pilot program- September 8- November 18, 2026

Vantaa Career Runway Pilot Program

The pilot program is developed by drawing insights and best practices from Espoo’s Career Club. Through a benchmarking process, selected elements and methodologies have been adapted and directly integrated into the program.
